Grant combine photographs captured in the microfluidics laboratory at Stony Brook University, sound recorded in the Staller Center Recital Hall, and thermoformed sculpture inspired by motion. The high-speed photography from the lab examines the intricacies formed by molten wax extruded into cold water. The photos are selectively colored and processed into stop-motion animation. The delay and layering of live piano sounds echo the reflective quality of the video, which is projected onto suspended, semi-translucent composites of plastic and scrim.
